Residents of Mizhhirya district also hand over weapons to the police

The month of voluntary surrender of weapons in Mizhhirya district continues. In November, residents of the district have handed over to the police four items of weapons.

This measure is carried out to counteract illegal distribution of weapons and the possibility of it falling into the hands of criminals, and to register hunting weapons and special equipment kept by citizens without permits.

Residents of the district can voluntarily surrender their weapons until November 30, 2013. Citizens, who voluntarily surrender hunting, firearms, edged or gas weapons within this period, will be exempt from criminal and administrative responsibility. Also, in the future, after completing the relevant documents, they will be able to register the weapons and use it legally – Maria Nyorba, Mizhhirya District Police informed.

Please note that under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, possession, storage, acquisition, manufacturing, repair, transfer or selling of firearms, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices without a permit required by law shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
